ORGANIZATION PROGRESS REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2009-2010;

  1. NAME OF ORGANIZATION: -Indus  Development Action Research Organization, (IDARO), Mirpurkhas.
  1. DATE OF ESTABLISHMENT OF ORGANIZATION: -  Established in 1999 by a committed group of Professionals of the area with spirit of Volunteerism and it has got registration in 2001, under the voluntary Social Welfare (Registration & control Ordinance) act 1961.
  1. Registration No:  DSW (MPS) / V.A / - 73 of 2001, Dated; 11-08-2001.  
  1. BASIC AIMS OF ORGANIZATION:  The Primary aim of IDARO is to bring about institutional awareness for the people and Capacity. Agriculture remained the main focus of the organization. Education, health and Gender awareness.
  1. STRENGTH OF ORGANIZATION: -

·         Trained Human Resource.

·         Committed Members.

·         Volunteerism.

  1. WORKING MODES OF ORGANIZATION: -

·         Working with community applying participatory approach.

·         Need-based activity planning.

  1. NEW CONTACTS OF ORGANIZATION: IDARO believes to work in teamwork and enhance the community as well. For the time being its need to make new contacts with other community members, Govt. Departments, Officials, NGOs and Donor NGOs. Following are the new contacts of IDARO:

·         The Asian Foundation, Mirpurkhas.

·         NCHD, Mirpurkhas.

·         Non-Formal and Education Literacy Department, Govt. of Sindh.

·         SDSSP, district Mirpurkhas.

  1. IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES: -

Following sections describes impact of organization's activities of IDARO:

a. Establishment of Schools for Quality Education:

The IDARO has established two schools for imparting education to the kids of poor communities. These schools are functional for last four years and providing quality education up to elementary level. One school is established at Mirpurkhas City while the other school is based at Jhuluri town near Mirpurkhas.

b. Campaign for enrollment to increase the number of children in schools:

Child education is the basic core for development of community. It is the duty of every social worker to motivate nation for enrollment. In this regard IDARO performing every year a campaign with its Schools student to aware the local population for enrollment their children to the schools.

c. Campaign for formation of Citizen Community Boards, (CCBs) in community:

It is truth that without community, the development among the people will not be sustainable. Due to this phenomenon, we are interested to work together and develop all the development activates of community. We have made several CCBs before the policy made by the Local Govt. After Launching by Local Govt. we increased several more CCBs. The Name and locations of CCBs such CCBs are as under;

At the time we are not only busy in formation of CCBs but also we are building the capacity of CCBs. Our Trainings made the CCBs able to retaining Office documentations, making Proposals, keeping financial office records well and working with social manner in the community. Our efforts made CCBs to achieve Grants/Proposals/Projects. During this year two CCBs successes in receiving the   Grants/Proposals/Projects and they are now on the path of development.  

d. Micro Credit project supported by Strengthening Participatory Organization: 

It was the first time when Strengthening Participatory Organization selected this organization for DPM cluster training. After getting this training, IDARO got some small amount of funding and this funding was used to give micro-credit to the land less tenants and small farmers for agricultural inputs. This micro-credit is a continuous feature and has benefited the poor farming. Besides, The NGO is implementing the project of micro credit with financial support of the SPO.  

e. Natural Resource Management and Agricultural Development: 

The awareness to the farming community is being given at their farms through this program. The awareness areas include Natural Resources Management and Integrated Pest Management, Integrated Nutrition Management, Farm Forestry, Livestock Management etc.

f. Cultural celebrations and contributions:

The flora and fauna of the district are the good ambassadors to promote the heritage of the local culture. Whenever, IDARO found any event like it, with its best willingness IDARO makes a positive role to participate in cultural event and shows.  

Recently, IDARO not only participated in the district's biggest Cultural event "Summer Fruits and Mango Festival" but also routed a campaign to promote its cultural importance.

g. Free Medical Camps:  

IDARO organized total number of 6 medical camps at various locations of Taluka Kot Ghullam Mohammad and Mirpurkhas. A total number of 4200 community members benefited from this activity.

  In the health sector IDARO has performed different campaigns and arranged health camps in rural areas. Hepatitis B, C & D awareness and vaccine programs have been arranged at different villages with the coordination of CBOs and Pharmaceuticals.

h. Surveys:

IDARO has conducted number of surveys for policy planning and organizedmany events including Health Camps, Hepatitis Vaccination move, improved Crop Production Practices, Education, and Health and Women days.

Recently IDARO surveyed for closed Govt. schools to reopen them and sent proposals to non-formal and education literacy department, Govt. of Sindh.

i. Relief camp for earthquake Victims.

IDARO held a camp for relief of earthquake victims and collected several goods and cash and sent with to victims with the help of SIND NET Mirpurkhas.

j. Working with a Network of NGOs.

Most of IDRO efforts were made with SIND NET and IDARO is also a secretariat of SIND NET due to this our most of preplanned works were postponed.
